Founded in 2009, we started Tynemouth Coffee Company with a 25-year-old, 5kg capacity coffee roaster. The aim to create a blend of coffee that worked well with milk whether brewed in a cafetière, AeroPress, filter or espresso machine, for everyone to enjoy a decent coffee.
After considerable experimentation and a passion for consistently serving up great coffee, the best-selling house blend Tynemouth Espresso was developed. Our first regular pitch was at the Spanish Battery, the headland overlooking the Mouth of the Tyne, with the three-wheeled Piaggio Ape coffee van soon becoming a popular and familiar sight at food festivals and other events across the North-East.
Now based from a former MOT centre over 4,000 sq. ft of space; TCC accommodates a roastery, barista training area and meeting rooms as well as a dedicated retail space.
Our range of global coffee blends has expanded to 12 and we are suppling a growing number of UK cafes, restaurants and delicatessens.
Plus, there is the opportunity for coffee connoisseurs to recreate the artisan barista experience at home with the ‘Roast & Post’ subscription service, launched March 2020 to answer the call for ‘lockdown’ coffee whilst working from home.
“For me, consistency is key and it is the thing, as an industry, we need to be striving for. I don’t like to see bad coffee being served up. And at Tynemouth Coffee Company we are not in the business of seeing a good coffee ruined.”
Paul Thompson, Founder Tynemouth Coffee Co.
